
Janice Tan
Psychologist
Janice is a clinical psychologist with more than 10 years of practice experience in clinical and forensic mental health and is adept at working with adults and adolescents. She also provides clinical supervision and coaching to mental health professionals and conducts training and workshops in psychological health and mental wellness. She is a Registered Psychologist and Supervisor with the Singapore Psychological Society. Janice was previously a Principal Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Director of the Clinical and Forensic Psychology Service at the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), where she headed the Centre for Forensic Mental Health. Apart from providing direct psychological services and managing a team of psychologists, she advised on frameworks pertaining to the assessment and treatment of psychological and behavioural problems. She also provided professional consultation and training to other civil service departments and social service agencies. As a psychologist who is passionate about helping adults and adolescents with psychological and emotional difficulties or mental health issues, Janice adopts a client-centred and non-judgemental stance and believes in building a therapeutic relationship with her clients. She practices with an integrative approach, providing individualised therapy according to the needs of each client. She is also proficient in intelligence testing, personality assessments, and is certified in the use of evidence-based tools for assessing criminal behaviours. Trained in suicide/self-harm intervention skills, psychological first aid, and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD), she is experienced in managing crises and critical incidents. Janice hopes to positively impact the next generation of professionals by making training, coaching, and clinical supervision accessible to psychologists as well as individuals who are working in related fields, such as mental health, social work, and counselling. Fluent in English and Mandarin, she has facilitated several workshops on a variety of psychology and wellness topics for fellow professionals, employees of organisations, and members of public. Janice is currently also an Associate Instructor at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, an Adult Educator at the Social Service Institute, and a Clinical Supervisor for postgraduate clinical psychology students at James Cook University Singapore. A certified RYT 200 Yoga Instructor, Janice strongly believes in the mind-body path. She is an advocate for physical and psychological health and strives to help every individual live life with awareness and mindfulness and embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance.
